,  Administrative Personnel , and the Hospital Board of Directors.   implementing and executing the Therapy Departments  going  inhouse as employers of the regional healthcare district following Samaritan Healthcare Management divestment from the Arizona rural communities., including their contracted providers  of Rehabilitation with the acute hospital setting and their community only 120 bed Care Center providing specialized  subacute  and LTC for the region   (including  White River IHS)

The Healthcare District had two outpatient Clinics,  one on campus , and the other in St. Johns, Az.. (County Seat)   I was trusted with Town Council and County Legislators to initiate and lead several focus groups  and committees utilizing the skills from  local Physicians, and Clinicians in private practice., including council from our remaining administrators  and hospitalist groups and attorney .

This beginning opportunity and challenge just a few months prior to PPS rule, especially early in my therapy career.  For the next 5 years there were many lessons learned through discouragement came humbled opportunities  for personal development  Principle Centered leadership approach and coach ' perceived unchangeable, old school organization by organizing and facilitating  specific teams that knew there accountability, skills would provide a common sense of success..

Valuable lessons are learned,  and the successful outcomes became personal rewards and future opportunities in business development/management while consistently  providing occupational therapy to our diminishing  service oriented, World War Veterans  generation of  accountability, commitment and Honor in their name sake.

Rehabilitation Service can provide the best opportunity  needed when you have the interdisciplinary  team working for the greater cause  knowing that your efforts daily affect  success with others who are also  accountable  with their scope of practice.  Respect and Fairness go a long way when leadership is TRUSTED

Rehab Management in itself, using sound principle Science, and the Arts of Humanity and Ethics combined with Nursing and Dietary will prove its necessity by the documented results of success that accounts for our skilled teams to support their lives and family,   Thriving on shared words of wisdom  whom were recipients of  that encouraging, caring council. Therapist  with Nursing.  Applying that interdisciplinary approach with each other, with action will generate leaders requiring  healthy  organizations  for their careers while developing a trend that enhances clearer standards of communication. ie:   incorporating better documentation , decreasing chances of revenue denial,  increased value in care planning, and Social Service work  eliminating the risks associated with poor  Caregiver and Patient  discharge plans.

In closing ,  The managing therapist is not a job title.  Its a knowledgeable  caring role with responsibilities that can see potential barriers to the  departments organizational health, sometimes unexpectedly, still leaving consequences on  your team and limiting focus for a solid plan of care initiated for those patients in our care.  Knowing potential barriers puts the plan of action at a 'wellness level of prevention", and like the principles of good health for our patients and seeing the success of having the opportunity for a happier, more educated Evaluation/ Plan to move forward with possible  new barriers,  or older compensated challenges from consequences of lifestyle or disease.  The responsible Rehab Leader can provide the needed example from company policies and procedures to providing the very discipline that began the journey you had with the passion to help heal another, and provide yourself with a worthy cause.  The well-respected, much needed, interdisciplinary  career that really does save lives, and for some of us , it may just save your well-being and quality in life.

I desire and pray that I never forget that leadership is not a .           lives outside of employment. contracted or  complimented attitude for    when they were usually most reflect       can really make a positive  .and choices  Accountability, and Patience were under constant local eyes, especially from  hard working North/Eastern Rural Arizona people who sacrificed time, talent and money during economic hardship,  to have this hospital remain to save lives, and provide one of the few top employment opportunities in the region. that was recognized also by the  hospitals provided the rehabilitation for independence from acute care to home health  and outpatient services 6 days a week.
