Business unit lead for approximately 15 (out of 20 total) agency accounts, including three of our largest clients and representing over a third of total agency revenues. My business unit encompasses several practice groups, with over 60 of the agency's total 140 employees, including animal health, equipment/outdoor, and our Kansas City accounts. Responsibilities include contract negotiation/ pricing and direct P&L management of all agency services including account planning, public relations, media and creative.
Initially recruited to develop and lead the agency's Account Planning department, later integrated into each of the three business units. Key contributor to new business, participating in several successful pitches in the last year as well as cultivating organic growth between 10 and 30% with existing clients.

Originated and implemented premium programs for McDonald's Happy Meal campaigns, outpacing competitors such as The Marketing Store in client presentations/ pitches. Launched "Kid Inventor Challenge" to connect moms and kids to McDonald's through contests to invent the next Happy Meal toy. Analyzed campaign effectiveness using metrics such as product sales and consumer perceptions.
Handpicked by Agency president to lead the creation of a strategic business plan to implement our newly formed agency mission. Developed key account plans including revenue/ profitability targets, product quality goals and operational improvements as part of the plan, and directed all aspects of service delivery during transition to the new agency model. Cemented agency's ability to compete during market shift from commission to fee-based revenue model by analyzing and optimizing agency processes and related costs. Piloted and refined strategic initiatives with select key accounts, including McDonald's, Kellogg's and Procter & Gamble.
Worked directly with Starcom CEO to re-brand and launch Leo Burnett's media department as a separate business. Product Manager for proprietary applications developed to provide all agency clients with superior media planning and reporting tools. One of eight pitch team members for General Motors media business, successfully securing $2B in media billings and the single largest media consolidation during that time period.
Recruited from previous employer during consulting project to manage the $300M McDonald's media account, successfully restoring the strained account relationship by resolving a serious budget error inherited from predecessor. Completed media training in record time and directed all aspects of the 26 person team, including media planning and buying across all channels and encompassing both the Adult and Youth business. Worked directly with McDonald's global and regional marketing executives and client media directors. Developed processes and tools to support client budgeting and reporting, piloting with McDonald's and implementing across all agency clients, including Procter & Gamble and Kellogg's.
Managed audits and financial systems consulting projects for sports teams (including Minnesota Vikings and Timberwolves, St. Louis Cardinals) and marketing companies (including Carlson Marketing Group, Carlson Travel, Cargill and Leo Burnett).
