Invite Your Friends: How to Invite Your Friends

Inviting your friends to join VisualCV is easy--we can do it, you can do it, or just talk about it.

The easy way -- VisualCV sends the invitations

  1. Login to VisualCV.
  2. Click the link "Invite to VisualCV" that appears in tab in the upper right.
  3. Add your friends' addresses in the address field. You can import them directly from AOL, Outlook, Yahoo!, Gmail, Plaxo or from an export from other mail programs. Or you could type the addresses in yourself. Whatever works for you.
  4. We've supplied a message in the text field to let your contacts know that you want them to stand out from the crowd (and of course get free music). Edit this as you see appropriate, we just wanted to save you some time.

  5. Click the "Send Invitation" button

Then wait for the referral credits to come rolling in... or, remind your friends to register in person.

The slightly less easy way -- you send the invitations

Maybe you have a group of friends in a social network like facebook or LinkedIn and prefer to communicate through those channels. In this case, you can send your friends a link (www.visualcv.com/signup) in those networks. This link takes your friends right to the sign up page. If you do this:

  1. In the other sytem, craft a message inviting your friends to join you at VisualCV telling them about how VisualCV is a great place to present yourself professionally online.
  2. Include this link in the message: http://www.VisualCV.com/signup
  3. Tell them your login name (that thing you use to login that's not your password), and give them a friendly reminder to include your login name in the referral field.
  4. Send the message from the other system.

The invitee might need to know that they need to activate their account and start creating a VisualCV for you to get your free tunes.

The really easy, but not so reliable way -- talk about it

Tell you friends to go to VisualCV and sign up, and have them put your username in the referral field. While really easy, it's not so reliabe in that your friend has to remember a) to type in your login name and b) type it in correctly (we'll do our best to resolve anything that doesn't automatically match, but no promises). Here's an example:

  1. Find a friend. If he's been complaining a lot about his job, he's a good mark.
  2. Tell him to go to VisualCV, they're reinventing the resume, you know.
  3. Tell him when he signs up, make sure he puts your login name in the referral field.
  4. Tell him your login name (that thing you use to login that's not your password).
  5. Tell him he actually needs to create a VisualCV for you to get your free tunes.

*If he's a she, substitute the pronouns in the the steps accordingly.
