Can you help me position myself effectively for job openings?
You've created a killer VisualCV, and now you want to use it to find a job. How do you know you're getting the right exposure? We've developed some tips to position yourself most effectively both within and outside of VisualCV for the right opportunity. Show me your tips
In addition to these tips, here are a few other things to consider:
- Share for the jobs you're most qualified for and most interested in doing. Most companies list a "General Interest" opening, but recruiters and hiring managers will always pay more attention to the specific jobs they've posted. Companies that only have a "General Interest" opening may be new to the VisualCV Career Connection program and haven't had a chance to set up their current openings, or they may not be hiring at the moment.
- Recruiters are always pressed for time. In many cases, recruiters are looking for a reason to disqualify candidates, so you need to get past these obstacles before you can sell them with your VisualCV. You have two opportunities to entice a recruiter to click through to your VisualCV:
First Impression: The Share Email: When you share your VisualCV, an email is sent to the recruiter. Does the message you included provide enough motivation for the recruiter to click through to your VisualCV?
Second Impression: Your Professionals Directory Listing: When the recruiter logs in to VisualCV, he or she reviews all applicants by reviewing his or her folders. You are listed in this folder the same way you appear in the "Professionals" directory. Does your title match the opening? Is your location in the same city as the opening? What about your professions? Remember, you can have multiple VisualCVs, each customized for an opening.
Why are you asking me to keep my career interests up to date?
Keeping your career interests up to date will help us match you with employers and help great employers find you. Targeting your career interests consists of selecting the industries you are most interested in, the categories that best represent your profession, and other job-specific details. Specifying this information:
- Increases your visibility on VisualCV
- Helps recruiters and companies find you more easily for openings they may have
- Enables you to more easily network with your colleagues in your field of expertise and help to identify relevant job search results for you
How do I post a job opening on VisualCV?
In order to post an opening on VisualCV, you need to have a company account that is part of the VisualCV Career Connection program.
When logged in to your Career Connection company account, you post jobs using the Jobs menu. Professional accounts cannot be used to post jobs. Tell me more about posting jobs.
