Singapore based Ship Management Company, managing Tankers, LPG/C, and other vessels. 

Responsible to the Top Management for:  

• Creating & Managing an Integrated Organizational Risk assessment  encompassing hazards associated with Assets, Customer,  Environment, Safety, Health and Hygiene.  
• Establishing long term Environmental vision & goals.
• Improve the supply chain management process.
• Routine Ship Management activities in addition to the above.  

July 2004 to August 2006

Responsible to the Director (Shipping) for business development. Monitoring implementation of new projects. Selecting & monitoring supplier’s performance. Implementing holistic 'quality' in 26 branch offices in the country.

Joint Ventures and new projects:

1. SCI Forbes Ltd, Mumbai: JV for Purchase of 4 Chemical Tankers worth USD 100 million

• Obtained Board approvals for the project
• Worked closely with external consultants/experts
• Assessing project cost over a 15 year life cycle
• Reviewed financials and project IRR
• Indentified sources for debt participation  

2. New Project: Construction of two Container freight stations located in New Mumbai (India) and Gujarat (Mundra Port). Project cost approximately USD 12 Million

• Developed budgets and tracked actual costs / variances
• Worked with Finance team to develop project cost and cash flow
• Managed supplier requirements and monitored their performance
• Recruited operations team  

3. Forbes Bumi Armada Ltd: JV for the owning and operating Off-shore supply vessels for ONGC Ltd India. Responsible to the Director/CEO Shipping division for preparing the feasibility study of an ONGC tender for the Time Charter of 9 vessels along with JV partner Bumi Armada, Malaysia for the JV Company Forbes Bumi Armada Ltd.

 4. Media & Advertising: Was responsible to the CEO/Director Shipping, for the Company’s strategy on publicity and advertising related issues, which included:

1995-2004

Established own Management Consultancy firm with slogan ‘Quality Pays & Safety Earns’ in 1995, when Quality Management Systems was a very new subject. As a Consultant had a direct & continuous interaction with the Client’s Top Management to drive all-round continual improvement. Started by understanding Company’s philosophy, processes and 'their' Customer’s expectations. Analysed weak areas. Suggested solutions to add value and monitored implementation. Trained personnel on Holistic Quality Management, Improving bottom line through Environment & Resource conservation techniques, Better Management of HR through Emotional intelligence concepts. Implemented various ‘low-cost high benefit’ schemes and process improvement initiatives using lean sigma, 5S, Kaizen concepts. Improving client’s output and the ‘bottom line’.   

As Entrepreneur & Proprietor of the Company, prepared annual budgets and targets for the company and four full time Consultants. Maintained detailed accounts and prepared Cash Flow and Financial Statements.

Jan 1990 to May 1995

Was serving as a Captain on board ships (Tankers, Container ships, Bulk Carriers, Refrigerated vessles & Off-shore supply vessels). Responsible to the owner of the vessel for the safety of the ship & crew and for the carriage of goods from one point to another as per charter party term, on vessels plying world wide.

June 1986 to Jan 1990

Served as a Pilot cum Port officer responsible for safe turn around

of the vessel.

June 1977 to June 1986

A Marine officer on board merchant ships in various capacities as a Junior officer and then as a Senior Officer (Chief Officer) responsible to the Captain of the ship for the safety of the vessel, crew and cargo.
