Summary

Rick Ament began his career in health care management and administration as an officer in the United States Air Force. A graduate of Central Michigan University with an M.S. in Health Services Administration, he served as Assistant Hospital Administrator at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Mr. Ament later acted as Vice President of Flower Hospital, Inc., in Sylvania, Ohio. The post represented a large increase in his duties and responsibilities. He was then accountable for a 200-bed long-term care (LTC) facility, a retirement community, and the hospital’s professional services departments. In his four years with Flower Hospital, Rick Ament played a key role in improving the hospital’s financial situation, bringing an increase in revenue of $6 million during his tenure. He also developed a strategic plan for the organization’s LTC corporation—its first—and achieved a $1.2 million growth in the corporation’s income. In a harbinger of future projects of its kind, Mr. Ament managed the construction of a 48-bed physical medicine and rehab hospital. The project achieved full occupancy and enhanced income by more than $1 million. Most recently, Mr. Ament founded Beacon Healthcare Finance. Rick Ament’s experience as a senior health care executive demonstrated the need for a health care–specific consultancy that had the knowledge and ability to create a system-wide culture of financial strength. The firm offers flexible packages that can be tailored to the individual needs of different health care facilities.
