The plan was to learn about the hardware side of computer technology. My interest in robotics directed me down that path. However, after showing an aptitude for software development while taking my programming classes, during my last semester, my Fortran Professor hired me into a company he recently joined. Review my work history to see the trajectory of my career.
I have first-hand experience successfully delivering software solutions for my clients. I am a Certified Scrum Master. I have experience utilizing aspects of XP in software development projects. I feel strongly that Agile Methodologies help build better, more relevant solutions.
I also feel strongly that the Scrum Methodology can be used on most time-boxed, deliverable-focused project; it does not have to be tied strictly to software development.
Starting my career in Smalltalk laid the foundation for my object-oriented experience (includes programming, design, and analysis), which I have utilized throughout my career through C++, Java, and now Ruby.
I naturally to think in objects and message sends, the interactions between the objects of the application ecosystem. It is natural for me to anthropomorphize the salient actors of an application design.
I first started using Ruby and Ruby on Rails, in earnest, starting in 2005. I worked full time on an internal IT application using Ruby on Rails until 2006. After which I have worked on several projects during off-hours on my own time.
Ruby seems like an old friend thanks to my Smalltalk background; Ruby is heavily influenced by Smalltalk and its concepts.
