Throughout my career, I have been responsible for the design, development, management, and maintenance of training solutions for a variety of businesses and industries ranging from Defense and Military Contractors, Aircraft Manufacturers, Power Generation & Distribution, Railway Services, Insurance, Financial Services and Telecom. As you can surmise, I have experience in training a wide variety of content, ranging from the highly technical to less technical soft skills training.
Although my resume highlights that I have a diverse background in the area of e-Learning, learning management systems (LMS), and learning content management systems (LCMS), I am primarily a training generalist, with solid experience in instructor-led training, e-learning design & development and instructional systems design (ISD).
I feel that I offer a unique set of hands-on training development and delivery skills. Furthermore, I have a solid understanding of what makes training effective. I possess solid project management skills needed to deliver training projects on time and on-budget.

This contract assignment is in support of the NAVAIR Enterprise AirSpeed Project Office at NAS Patuxent River MD. Working with a team of SME's, I am in the process of developing an e-Learning training solution that will be delivered Navy-Wide on Navy Knowledge Online (NKO). In this role, I am part of the training team and will support the team’s efforts by serving as the team's Instructional Designer/Developer.

This short contract was a SOW engagement that involved the full cycle design and development of a 1 hr CBT module. It was a telecommute position. My role included instructional designer (interviewing SME’s, outlining curriculum, writing learning objectives, creating design document) and CBT Developer (developed module using Articulate Presenter, Engage and Quiz).

During this short contract, I worked as part of a small design and development team to produce several training modules for a “field facing audience” (independent agents) employed by a large financial organization. I met with the client’s Subject Matter Experts, conducted a task analysis, wrote learning objectives, sequenced the content and created a module outline, gathered the content, wrote a detailed design document and managed the review process. Armed with the approved content, I storyboarded the module that was quickly approved and then I developed the module using Lectora. The module was delivered early and under budget.

During this 10-month contract, I worked for the V.P. of Marketing for Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution. As an Instructional Designer, I conducted a front-end analysis to determine the department’s needs. The client needed a multimedia sales kit designed and developed and delivered on DVD for distribution to the global sales force. I gathered the content, created a detailed design document, flowchart and storyboards and then selected source files from existing video, audio, and photos,. I worked with an internal team to ensure accurate coverage of all products and identified external vendors to perform the production work. Acting as the Project Manager, I created the project plan and schedule and managed the vendors’ progress to the completion.

During this 3-month contract, I worked for the Senior Business Development Manager, Educational Programs at Siemens Power Technology Incorporated (PTI). PTI has been conducting Instructor-Led training since 1968. They are the industry leaders in Power Technology software and they provide product training to their customers. As an Instructional Designer/Consultant, I was hired to help the client: 1. Decide whether e-Learning would work for them, 2. , Decide which, of their many courses, would be the best to begin their foray into web-based training and 3. Guide them through the RFP process and select a vendor for the first course development project. As part of this process, I worked hand and hand with an internal selection committee and mentored them as I wrote the Program Requirements Document and the Request for Proposal. We began our selection process with 15 possible vendors and conducted a three round selection process.

During this 9-month contract, I worked for the Director of Instructional Design at USAA Insurance Company. As a Senior Educational Consultant, I worked as part of a collaborative team, which was in the process of converting several thousand of hours of traditional Instructor-Led Training (ILT) courses to e-Learning. The new design was centered on the Reusable Learning Object (RLO) model. The intent was to develop a proprietary delivery platform that would be SCORM compliant and content could be easily re-used or re-purposed independent of delivery theme.

During this 6-month contract, I worked for the Director of Learning, Capital One University. As a Senior Instructional Designer, I designed and developed a blended training solution for an internal software ERP rollout. I conducted a thorough front-end analysis, job and task analysis, target audience evaluation and training environment study. I wrote the learning objectives, assessment instrument, detailed design doc, flowchart and storyboards. This course was a blended learning solution so in addition to the e-Learning element, I created a Facilitator’s Guide, Student workbook and classroom activity guide for the classroom exercises.

During this 14-month engagement, I worked for the Director of Customer Support. As an Senior Instructional Designer/Software Trainer, my role was two-fold. The first responsibility was as an instructor conducting end-user training on Outstart’s software applications, which included the LCMS, (Outstart Evolution) the LMS (Outstart LMS) and, their e-Learning authoring tool (Outstart Trainer). The second role was one of consultant. In that role, I would travel to the customer site and install or supervise the installation of the LCMS and then validate the implementation. Then I would conduct a discovery session to help the customer ascertain what consulting services they would like to take advantage of – they were entitled to several hours of consulting as part of their licensing agreement. We would design a custom program, create a schedule for the services and I would then conduct workshops with the end-users to mentor them on how to implement the product into their culture/processes.

During this 2-month contract, I worked as part of a team from Accenture. The team was responsible for designing and developing a self-paced training course that covered a newly launched Web Application- Employee Portal. My role was part of the final phase of the project development cycle. I was assigned the responsibility of reviewing all of the materials that the team had developed and conduct an Instructional Design QA inspection.

During this 3-month contract, I reported directly to the V. P. of Customer Support. The Alstom North American Training Center had been conducting software training for their proprietary Power Control software for more than 20 years. Now, the organization was considering a new direction that would enable them to offer their customers the opportunity to complete software training online. My role in this engagement was to conduct an IT infrastructure evaluation; training needs assessment, an e-Learning technology analysis, and a cost analysis. Armed with the resulting data, I wrote and e-Learning implementation plan, in which I made vendor recommendations, estimated costs, proposed a milestone schedule and made initial recommendations concerning courses to be developed.

During this 20-month contract, I worked for the Director of Customer Training. As a Senior Instructional Designer, I designed and developed software training for internal software tools. I conducted the front-end analysis, job and task analysis, target audience evaluation and training environment study. I wrote the learning objectives, assessment instrument, detailed design doc, flowchart and storyboards. I developed the course using Dreamweaver, Javascript, Flash templates and Robodemo.

During this 18-month engagement, I worked for the Manager – Shared Resources GEPS Intranet Services. As a Web-Application Project Manager, I was part of a team of PM’s. As part of a large proprietary ERP implementation, each of us was assigned a block of business leaders to support. My responsibility was the HR organization. In this role, I led a team of individuals including a Business Analyst, Technical Writer, UI designer and Lead Programmer. In addition I managed the production team that was part of an offshore external vendor. We provided support for the business and fulfilled any needs that could be addressed by the development of a ERP web application.

During this 3 year period I participated as part of a large multimedia design and development group at GE PSU. We designed and developed CBT courseware for GE internal customers. Although PSU's expertise was power systems and turbines the multimedia team delivered training to many other GE businesses. During this time period I designed and developed training for GE Transportation in Erie PA, GE Industrial Systems in Salem Va, Nuovo Pignone in Florence Italy, GE Corporate in Crotonville, GE Medical in Waukasaw Wi. and GE Turbine Contrals in Salem, Va.
