Summary

 

Following a successful career as a hydrogeologist, Marilyn Hajicek founded Blue Trout Resources, a personal and community history company. Serving clients in Colorado, Ms. Hajicek assists families and communities with preserving their prized memories and history through engaging books. Ms. Hajicek meets with clients in order to get a sense of their vision of the project and coordinates interviews with the “storytellers” of the community or family narrative.Subsequent to the interviews, materials are gathered such as family genealogy information, prized photographs, newspaper clippings and other memorabilia that will assist in creating a rich portrayal of the story being told.The final product is an heirloom quality book that weaves together the fascinating narrative with meaningful illustrations that will be passed down for generations. Marilyn Hajicek and her team often volunteer their services to elderly clients who wish to document their stories but cannot afford the costs involved. <?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

Prior to her current endeavor, Ms. Hajicek spent many years working as a geologist and hydrogeologist in oil and gas exploration, water resources and environmental cleanup.Her work included performing a resistivity survey in the Great Sand Dunes National Monument for which she coauthored a paper entitled, Schlumberger Soundings and Sand-Column Resistivity Testing for Determining Stream-Aquifer Connection, Great Sand Dunes National Monument, Colorado.Her career in geology and hydrogeology ultimately led to a 12-year tenure as a State regulator managing programs related to environmental cleanup and safety.<o:p></o:p>

Marilyn Hajicek attended Portland State University in Portland, Oregon to pursue her undergraduate education, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Earth Science/Geology. She went on to complete graduate courses in hydrogeology at the Colorado School of Mines based in Golden, Colorado and obtained a Master of Science in Management from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.<o:p></o:p>
