Len Gutman has more than 20 years of experience in corporate communications and public relations. He is currently a Sr. Communications Manager at Apollo Group, parent of University of Phoenix, where he leads employee communications for a variety of internal clients and sets strategy for the company's use of communications-related technology including social networking, the company intranet and more. Previously he was president and founder of Open Door Communications, a full-service public relations and communications company based in Phoenix, Ariz.. The company's clients included organizations across a broad spectrum of industries including aerospace, travel and hospitality, health care, real estate, retail and technology.
Prior to founding Open Door Communications, Len worked at Delta Air Lines, Insight Enterprises and AlliedSignal Aerospace. His background also includes five years of positions of increasing responsibility in communications at TRW Inc. in Sunnyvale, Calif., and jobs as an investor relations consultant, a magazine editor and a sports journalist.
Len is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and served as president of IABC Phoenix in 2003-04. Len earned his accreditation from IABC in 2002, a designation achieved by less than 5 percent of the organization’s 13,000 members worldwide. Len is the author of Giving Time: Making A Difference in Your Community (Llumina Press, 2003) and is a longtime columnist and contributing writer for the Arizona Republic.
