My Immersion team was responsible for the initial design and development of a virtual collaboration center for implementation through the Virginia Department of Education’s Training/Technical Assistance Center web site, which provides training and support to school district staff serving children with disabilities in Virginia.
The team was involved with the following activities:
- Conducted performance analysis to identify drivers, barriers, and goals for the project.
- Conducted an in-depth needs analysis to identify the current and desired collaborative environment, appropriate synchronous and asynchronous collaborative tools, and web-based applications and software to enhance online delivery of training and technical assistance.
- Created personas and essential use cases to design prototype of user interface.
- Conducted usability testing of synchronous web conferencing tool.
As an Immersion team member, I was responsible for:
- Facilitating team activities during Fall 2007 semester as team Project Coordinator.
- Facilitating design and development of support for online training development.
As a result of my Immersion experience, I was exposed to a variety of Web 2.0 technologies, including wikis, blogs, and social bookmarking, during the design and development process.
