Summary

Johan Schild has spent nearly half a century at sea. In 1965, he first began his offshore career as a deck officer, eventually being promoted to Captain. During the first decade of his career, Schild worked all over the world on a variety of general cargo and container vessels.

In 1975, Schild took on the role of Marine Surveyor for the National Cargo Bureau. During this time, he performed a variety of marine surveys including some involving the supervision of securing heavy lift and project cargo. He also participated in the review and amending of the NCB Stability Course.

In 1977, Johan Schild went to work at NauTech Marine in New Orleans, Louisiana. In the 11 years that he served NauTech, Schild worked as President, Senior Surveyor, and Expert Witness. Through the company, Johan was a Port Captain for a variety of foreign shipping companies. He worked on heavy lifts, project cargos, and other vessels. Schild also performed a variety of surveys for the business and assisted in cultivating strong relationships with clients all over the world. Additionally, Schild was in charge of hiring all captains and chief engineers at NauTech and handled vessel maintenance and cleaning contracts.

Currently, Johan Schild is President and CEO of Marine Consultancy, LLC in Spanish Fort, Alabama. During his time at Marine Consultancy, LLC, Schild has worked on a variety of international projects. He has performed numerous surveys and worked to negotiate various maritime equipment and vessel sales on behalf of the company.

Evaluate vessels for suitability of STS operations.

Sub-contractor for a commodities company to evaluate and designate Mooring Masters for Ship-to-Ship Transfers of bunkers in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean, Atlantic, etc.

Development and implementation of an Offshore Bunkering Operations Manual outlining safety guidelines, checklists and procedures for operations including inspections of all mooring materials (wires, shackles, fenders, chains, hoses, ropes, and other related gear.

Supervise fender rigging on all employed vessels.

Design fender rigging systems on various types of vessels, as well as all employed vessels.

Assigned at various companies as Port Captain including but not limited to: Steigler Shipping, Scanworld, Dan-Gulf, Daewoo Engineering and Lysander Shipping.

Participated in maritime litigation cases as an expert witness with subject matter ranging from cargo, hull and personal injury cases, including cases involving mooring of vessels.
