A well-funded Maryland area start-up technology incubator focused on the research, development and eventual commercialization of emerging next-generation alternative and renewable energy technologies, has an immediate opening for a highly-entrepreneurial, full-time, permanent Vice President, Business Development & Operations.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated history of “outside-the-box” thinking and strong entrepreneurial spirit, a flair for sales and marketing, and a keen willingness to work creatively in order to achieve aggressive business objectives.  Above all, you understand the needs unique to a start-up technology venture and are willing to work as a team player to simply “get the job done!” You are well-spoken and an excellent writer and presenter. You have sales, marketing and business development experience within the solar (or alternative energy) industry, and importantly, are able to grasp and re-articulate concepts related to solar, mechanical, electronic, and electrical engineering.  Formal technical training is not required. As VP, Business Development & Operations, you will directly assist our President & CEO in the overall commercial development of our technology portfolio, and will be individually responsible for establishing relationships with commercial partners where our technologies can be tested, and in some cases, joint-ventured for development and/or deployment. You will leverage your unique blend of established industry contacts, professional experience, and technical know-how to help the President & CEO further expand the Company’s early R&D product pipeline, and will support him as liaison between front-lines engineering and research teams and the Board of Directors of our publicly-traded Company.   You will also help identify and recruit all necessary resources and expertise in order to develop and execute a comprehensive, critical development path for commercialization of our flagship technology.  Each fiscal quarter, and at interim periods when needed, you will produce written research updates/reports for inclusion in financial statements, and provide research information and supporting documentation to the Company auditors, as required.  You will work with the Company’s current administrative team to ensure compliance with United States Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) requirements on an ongoing basis, and assist the Company’s attorneys with review and/or preparation of requisite financial filings for submission to the SEC.  You possess strong communication and presentation skills, and comfortably explain complex scientific principles in plain language.  You are able to impactfully illustrate the commercial implications of our research efforts and effectively communicate our corporate vision in investor presentations to institutional sponsors and investment groups. You must be an adaptive self-starter, a team player, and a results oriented problem solver.    Candidates with early-stage alternative energy R&D and commercialization experience will be given preference. A proven management history and/or business development experience in alternative energy with formal training and hands-on experience with solar technology or related alternative energy technology or engineering are required. Applicants must possess a strong understanding of science, preferably with formal training/education in sciences or engineering, and possess either an MBA degree or present equivalent business experience.    Selected candidates will eventually be required to submit verifiable salary and work history data, along with notification of any criminal, judicial, or regulatory enforcement proceedings to which you have been named party.    As VP, Business Development & Operations, you will be remunerated with a combination of performance-based stock options and a highly-competitive salary.
