Dr. James Murtagh is board-certified in Pulmonary Medicine and Internal Medicine. Additionally, Dr. James Murtagh is a member in good standing with numerous esteemed medical organizations, including the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Federation of Clinical Research, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Thoracic Society. Dr. James Murtagh was elected to the Southern Section of the American Society of Clinical Investigation, as well as to the Advisory Board of the Boehringer-Mannheim Corporation. Currently, Dr. James Murtagh serves as a Doctor of Pulmonology at VA Medical Clinic in Fayetteville, Arkansas. An expert in sleep medicine and critical care, in addition to pulmonology, Dr. James Murtagh has held a variety of University, private practice, and government positions over the course of his career. While serving as an Assistant Professor at Emory University, James Murtagh facilitated the establishment of an integrated ICU ethics program, ICU computer education, and a Sleep Program at Grady Memorial Hospital. Dr. James Murtagh graduated with honors in 1982 with his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan Medical School. Prior to earning his M.D., Dr. James Murtagh attended the University of Michigan, where he distinguished himself among his peers by earning his undergraduate degree with honors in two years. Outside of work, James Murtagh, M.D. enjoys writing movie reviews. Dr. James Murtagh also enjoys boating, traveling, and reading.
