Ian Jackson has a technical and policy background in nuclear regulation coupled with strong strategic-level business skills gained from consulting to central government Departments, nuclear site management firms, nuclear energy utilities and private equity and institutional investors in the finance sector. Ian is former nuclear regulator and advisor to the British government with 24 years experience in the nuclear sector; 10 years in industry, 6 years in regulation and policy, and 8 years in independent private practice. He has advised many public and private sector organisations on nuclear issues, working extensively within central government, the financial sector and industry at senior level. He served as Associate Director for Nuclear Strategy and New Nuclear Build at Halcrow Group, a $700 million global infrastructure firm. Ian is the author of Siting New Nuclear Power Stations: Availability and Options for Government published alongside the 2007 Energy White Paper by the British Secretary of State Alistair Darling. Ian wrote the British government's anti-terrorism Strategic National Guidance to local authorities on chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) clean-up, published by Environment Minister Eliot Morley in 2004. He received the Environment Agency's plain language award in 1999 for his public consultation and report to Ministers on the regulation of atomic weapons sites. Ian's business book Nukenomics: The Commercialisation of Britain's Nuclear Industry was published in April 2008.
