Interactive marketing agency focused on helping a national base of clients realize their business goals through the effective use of the online channel, integrating strategy, creative, and existing and emerging technologies.

• Manage the development and IT support teams in support of client and internal projects.  My team consists of both permanent staff and recurring, one-time and offshore contractors, depending on the varying needs of the projects. 
• Development capabilities for which I manage, mentor, and sometimes assist with include: HTML+CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Ruby on Rails, ASP.NET and related Web and database technologies.
• Provide technical leadership for both existing and prospective clients, covering opportunity development, project scoping and estimation, resource planning, and execution. Occasionally we are also involved in hosting and ongoing maintenance activities.
• Clients I personally worked with include: Sears, Alltel, Windstream, Orkin, and Nutro (a division of Mars Petcare).

Accomplishments:

• I played a significant role on a large multi-team project for a Fortune 100 client, providing technical project management for internal and client resources and two offshore development teams; guided architecture and design efforts, and helped with Flex programming. The project lasted 8 months before the client decided to go in a different direction (and later terminated the initiative for internal reasons).
• I also built up a 10-person team of permanent and contract Adobe Flex developers to pursue innovative use of this emerging technology for our clients. Learned enough Flex to allow me to effectively manage the team and contribute to development efforts when needed.
• In 2009, when one of our clients (a large telecommunications company) decided they wanted to in-source some of their content development, I helped them evaluate the CMS tools that would work best for them, hired and managed the team that developed the selected Ektron CMS400 solution, and performed the production install and configurations needed to successfully launch the new site on schedule.  They were so pleased with the results, we later extended the CMS to manage a larger portion of their site.
• After THINK was awarded the digital Agency of Record for Mars' Nutro brands, we took over maintenance of numerous existing websites, and launched two new sites.  With minimal documentation from the previous agency, this required me to evaluate, document, and then socialize how the sites were put together so we could maintain and enhance the sites for the client, as well as facilitate web and email engagement with the users of the sites.

springBoard is a Hands on Atlanta initiative to support non-profit agencies through the application of volunteers' professional skills, such as IT, Finance, Marketing, and Strategic and Business Planning. My role is to assess the near- and long-term IT needs of agencies and find volunteers to perform the work (and participate myself in some instances). The primary areas of assistance involve web site implementations and infrastructure requirements planning. I also assist in the development of the program with a view to expanding the program nationwide.

I also assist the internal Hands on Atlanta staff with various IT projects, including updates to the HOA website.

The WiKID Strong Authentication System is a patented dual-source, software-based two-factor authentication system designed to be less expensive and more extensible than hardware tokens.

• Joined the company to begin the implementation of WiKID's open source strategy
• Developed numerous plugins for the web-side architecture using Ruby, Python, and PHP
• Assisted with enhancements to Java architecture and RedHat-based appliance
• Created the iPhone and Android versions of the company's core token client

• Designed and implemented the full IT infrastructure for a start-up company in Saint Lucia, West Indies. Developed the core of the business with a Java-based registration system using a Sybase database platform, and helped design the public-facing Web site.
• Upgraded the production servers to new hardware and operating systems, migrated the database from Sybase to PostgreSQL, and refreshed the core software system using newer Java technologies, including Struts.
• Implemented a Plone-based intranet for a medical device company, providing a better user experience to the staff than other solutions being considered.
• Developed an online perl-based order system for an apparel company.
• Assisted TeamStaff with ongoing maintenance and enhancements of their websites.
• Created a list management tool for the iPhone, available in the App Store

National provider of medical and administrative staffing services; $75MM in FY2006; NASDAQ “TSTF”

• Develop strategic IT and business goals into specific projects, providing guidance, support and direction for all computer and telecommunication needs.
• Participate as a member of the leadership team to implement the technology vision, strategies and priorities of the organization.
• Oversee operations and application development groups.
• Handled IT-related due diligence and pre- and post-acquisition transition efforts for two divestitures and two acquisitions.
• Replaced older high-cost technologies with less expensive (often open source) components, resulting in annual savings of over $300K while providing better service and performance.
• Guided efforts to consolidate multiple staffing systems onto a more robust platform, including requirements gathering, vendor evaluations and selection, and migration planning.
• Co-developed a new website for the medical staffing division, using Ruby on Rails and tying into the new back-end system using XML web services.

• Manager of all computer- and telecommunications-related systems and services. Includes LAN, WAN, and PBX for multiple locations. Served as lead administrator of data center systems and all network equipment.
• Supervisor of geographically dispersed operations support team, involving mentoring, performance evaluations, and hire/fire decisions.
• Responsible for all information security standards and practices, including development of IT-related policies.

Start-up web services provider targeting the small business market; purchased by TeamStaff in 2001.

• Responsible for managing data center operations, including servers, networking, and security, and for guiding junior engineers.
• Planned and implemented eight office frame relay network, involving carrier selection and provisioning, router and firewall configuration, and office conversion coordination.
• With this network in place, I managed the post-merger consolidation and integration of the TeamStaff offices, systems, and standards and procedures.
• Built PHP-based time-entry system for all IT employees, to track all time spent for project planning and financial capitalization.

One of the first web agencies started in Atlanta in the mid 1990's.  Interweb was purchased by THINK New Ideas in 1998, which was purchased by AnswerThink in 1999.

• Developed and maintained custom web applications for client and internal use, utilizing Perl, Java, and Sybase. Also supported third-party software, such as search engines and site traffic analyzers.
•  Provided networking and system support for workstations and servers, with 24-hour accessibility. Responsible for maintaining availability and security of multiple Unix and Windows NT servers.
