George Marchelos is a professional services consultant for Mercer Computer Systems. He currently works out of Cupertino, California. A native of New York, he grew up in the city, going to school there and attaining his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technology, as well as an A.A.S. in computer engineering. His work immediately after college saw him in the defense industry, working on computer systems for Harpoon missiles, as well as Submarine Acoustic Warfare. Following that, he did work for several computer companies over the years. These include WANG Laboratories, Hewlett-Packard, and Digital Equipment Corporation, all of them in the top tier of the computing industries. During this time, he worked as a consultant in a number of separate capacities including telecommunications and support. His work was vital in the capacity of sales, helping each company to meet or exceed its sales goals in his markets. Eventually, after moving out to California, he switched to working for Mercer Computer Systems. His work for them has been varied, and has involved everything from making sure that products are delivered on time to being personally responsible for the delivery of the results. He has also been responsible for training teams of salesmen to work in inside sales.As a senior sales executive, these responsibilities are all part of the territory. They come with the job. Marchelos is responsible not only for driving profits, but also for securing future profits by conducting himself professionally with his clients. He is also responsible for passing on what he knows to others, so that they can provide a benefit to the company. He has done so and has done so well.
