Focus on patent prosecution for several key portfolios, manage outside counsel. Help business units develop and communicate patent strategy, and work with inventors to create intellectual property in support of the patent strategy. During this time, I also helped Microsoft's Office Labs start its community projects program with Speed Launch.

Startup focused on managing the world's personal information. In 2001, Built and patented a personal information platform directed to federating patent information across multiple websites.  Patent portfolio sold at auction in 2007. Simultaneously served as team leader, web developer, and database administrator for the Marine Corps Instite (MCI), the Marine Corps' distance learning operation (2003-2006). Developed paperless exams solution for MCI and was awarded a Commendation for Meritorious Civilian Service for this and other achievements. As of 2010, paper exams are no longer offered by MCI.

I negotiated with CU to receive law school credit for completing the application, and became officially hooked on software innovation.
