I teach undergraduate and paralegal courses in civil discovery, including both traditional and "electronic" discovery, as well as traditional and internet-based legal research.  I also created a new course for the Junior College entitled, "Using Technology in the Law Office," which surveys in a computer lab setting a wide variety of technologies now being used by law firms of all sizes and practice areas.  Students will also be exposed to substantive law and ethics issues in this challenging new field.

Civil trial and appeals practice emphasizing employment law, personal injury, and civil rights matters in both state and federal courts.

Responsible for all levels of management of practice, including office management, case management, communications with clients, information gathering, conducting litigation, working with experts and consultants, communicating with decision-makers, and resolving disputes among parties.

Assist other attorneys as consultant on matters of complex civil procedure, appeals, and special-issue cases such as premises liability cases.

Responsible for all aspects of education delivery, including development of course grading rubric, creation of course content, syllabi, classroom assignments, and examinations.

Directed University's on-site Mock Appellate Advocacy Competition.  In this capacity, I planned and organizedf the full-day competition schedule, arranging volunteer mock judges from the Bench and local firms, assisted in making video/audio record of the event, and assisting students on the day of the event as needed.

Explanation Of Job Duties & Achievements at Sonoma State University

Legal Research and Legal Writing were core, required courses for students seeking careers as paralegals. These courses were also offered as electives to students in Sonoma State's undergraduate program. In this capacity, I was given complete control over the delivery of course content to the students.

I developed the Law & Motion Practice course at the request of the University Program Director, which was offered as a summer course to small groups.  Because of this experience, I am quite comfortable designing entire courses from the ground up, depending upon the needs of an institution.

I taught in this program until the program was dis-continued by the University, which at the time was the only ABA-accredited paralegal program north of the Golden Gate Bridge

Volunteer participant in Court's Discovery Facilitator Program, a program initiated by the local Bench as a means to resolve disputes over the exchange of pre-trial information via "discovery."  I have been appointed to serve on one case thus far involving a personal injury matter, and was able to successfully resolve a pending discovery dispute between the parties.  This resolution significantly reduced the parties' expenses and the burden on the Court caused by unnecessary court filings.
