Conceived and implemented the successful public information campaign for the $300 million Central Artery North Area highway construction project. Served as department spokesperson and liaison to community and business organizations, federal, state and local government officials and the news media. Wrote weekly news columns and marketing materials and conducted interviews with print and electronic media to build brand awareness and support for the project.

Honored by the Massachusetts Senate and House of Representatives for my service.

Government Relations, Lobbying and Advocacy   Challenge: Convince the Massachusetts Legislature and Governor’s Office to preserve departmental line item allocations within the twenty five billion dollar state budget that were critical to my client.  http://bit.ly/18463V   Action: Assessed each line item, monitored House and Senate revisions, developed lobbying strategies, created legislative alerts (website, print) and motivated members to lobby the Governor and Legislature.   Result: Minimized budget cuts, helped prevent the elimination of fundamental positions and defeated amendments that would have undermined the financial viability of the organization and its 20,000 members.               Business Development, Marketing and Sales   Challenge: Identify corporations and government agencies and negotiate contracts with C-suite executives and agency heads to provide employment opportunities for 500 disabled adults. http://bit.ly/4wsdz6   Action: Developed targeted sales and marketing programs leading to individual contracts up to $50,000 and raised charitable donations from government, corporate and individual donors.   Result: Provided year round employment and a salary for 500 disabled adults at six regional career centers, increased revenues and enhanced the organization’s visibility at the State House and throughout MA territory.                           Community Affairs, Communications and Pubic Outreach   Challenge: Maintain safety, traffic flow and public access while minimizing community opposition and critical media coverage during the multiyear $300M Central Artery North Area highway project. http://bit.ly/8CgcSI   Action: Partnered with consultants, elected officials, neighborhood residents and the media to implement a multifaceted communications plan that has been hailed a national model for community participation   Result: Regional traffic congestion, delays and pollution were reduced, public safety and visitor access improved, and the community was revitalized leading to increased development, tourism and property values.
