Manage a staff of 11 employees (7 FTE, 4 student workers) whose duties include desktop support
services, server (Windows and Linux) installation and support, web development, database
administration, AV administration, and audio/video production and editing. All of this in support of
15 Centers responsible for various types of biomedical and bioengineering research.

• Hired to build an IT organization. Started in 2004 with 3 people providing only desktop support.
• By 2008 the organization had grown to a high of 15 FTE and 5 students providing desktop support, server administration, web development, database management, audio/video production and support, and management of the door access system.
• Our server environment was born in 2005 with of 5 servers and 7 Tb. Current environment consists of 85 Windows, Linux (Red Hat) and Apple servers and with 4 SAN's totaling over 300 Tb (Raw).
• Server/storage environment designed to provide redundancy and minimize downtime in the event of failure in our primary datacenter.
  
• Managed the deployment of a $3 million AV project.
• Provided full video production capability on-site.  Video editing was completed using Apple's Final Cut Pro.

CSC employment was the result of an outsourcing of Motorola's IT organization in June 2003.  From my home base in Phoenix, AZ, I remotely managed teams of Unix systems administrators administering Solaris, HP, and IBM environments for clients such as Motorola, General Dynamics, Bassell, ETS, and Shell Oil. The team consisted of 25 members that were scattered across the country in locations such as Texas, Delaware, New Jersey, Virginia, and Arizona.

Managed multiple teams within the Phoenix Region all providing 24x7 support for the wafer
fabrication plants within Arizona for Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector. The overall
organization size was about 35 people and consisted of the following teams: Unix Administration,
Windows Administration, VMS/Tandem Administration, and Data Center Operations.

• Hired in August 2000 to manage Phoenix Region Desktop Support.
• Asked by management to manage the Data Centers group in October 2000 after the resignation of Data Centers manager.
• Sponsor of the Data Center Storage Technical Advisory Board responsible for setting the strategic direction for backup, archival, and ongoing data storage for SPS.
• Sponsor of the Oracle Technical Advisory Board responsible for setting the strategic direction for the administration of Oracle databases world wide.
• Member of Global Data Center Management team responsible for overseeing data center operations for SPS world wide.

Managed a division whose responsibilities include the architecture and support of SkyMall’s voice and data networks. Additional divisional responsibilities include Data Operations. Data Operations entails: Help Desk, QA/Test, management and support of the production environment, PC acquisition and installation, and LAN administration.

• Managed the redesign of SkyMall’s WAN environment.
• Managed the outsourcing of network management services to Forte Management Services (now called Calence).
• Responsible for acquiring new data center/co-location facility.
• Managed the migration from our previous co-location facility (Frontier Global Center) to our new data center located at PKS Computer Services, Tempe.
• Managed the transfer of operational duties from SkyMall to PKS.
• Negotiated/renegotiated voice and data contracts with AT&T, Sprint, MCI and AT&T Wireless.
