The Salesforce.com Certified Force.com Developer is an individual who has experience developing custom applications on the Force.com platform, including practical application of the skills and concepts noted in Force.com Developer Guide. The Certified Force.com Developer has successfully completed the Force.com Essentials course (DEV401) from salesforce.com or an Authorized Training Center or possesses equivalent experience and knowledge. The Certified Force.com Developer has experience with the Salesforce user interface and data model. The Certified Force.com Developer has broad knowledge of the declarative (clicks, not code) functionality of the Force.com platform, can describe various use cases for this functionality, and can use this functionality to create applications using the standard Salesforce interface. Additionally, the Certified Force.com Developer can identify what application design specifications require the use of Apex or Visualforce code.

The Certified Consultant may administer standard Salesforce CRM applications, but also has experience with
the salesforce.com application user interface and data model. The Certified Consultant is capable of identifying,
articulating, and using the unique capabilities of a software-as-a-service/platform-as-a-service (SaaS/PaaS)
cloud-computing environment and can gather requirements and design and deploy a successful solution based
on these capabilities. The Certified Consultant can deploy production-ready applications, has a broad understanding of SaaS, and is capable of designing deployment-ready solutions to solve common customer business requirements. The Certified Consultant is capable of using Salesforce application customization capabilities as described in the certification objectives. The Certified Consultant also should be able to identify appropriate solutions to specific business challenges/process requirements by applying knowledge of these features in the current version of the Salesforce applications.
