Anna Richo

A veteran corporate lawyer, Anna Richo presently serves as executive vice president and general counsel for the Belgian biopharmaceutical enterprise UCB. Completing her juris doctor at DePaul University in Chicago, she earned the school’s Trial Advocacy Academic Excellence award. Joining Baxter International, Inc. in the early 1990s, Anna Richo guided the firm’s full range of major litigation. She focused on issues such as mass tort lawsuits and risk exposure facing the company, and regularly consulted with board and executive management team members.
Ms. Richo subsequently led Baxter Healthcare Corporation’s bioscience division as vice president of law. In addition to directing the firm’s legal services and public policy functions, she managed the chief patent counsel. Heading a global team of 36 staff members, she spearheaded efforts by crisis action teams to overcome threats and challenges. Since 2006, Ms. Richo has co-chaired the Pepperdine University School of Law’s Straus Institute Council of Distinguished Advisors. The Council provides the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution with information on trends affecting the legal and business communities. Anna Richo is a longstanding member of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association and the Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics.
