Digital storyteller directing youth-centered, social change-oriented media projects. Former photojournalist at the San Jose Mercury News for five years and later pursued citizen journalism through syndicated blog distributed via LexisNexis services.
Some key qualifications and strengths I offer include:
- High Impact Storytelling: During my tenure at the San Jose Mercury News, I helped craft an innovative online storytelling strategy as a staff photojournalist and picture editor. For me, this involved both capturing news in multimedia form in the field as well as editing video, audio and still picture footage.
- Content Manager with Solid News Judgment: As a social entrepreneur, I returned to citizen media in 2008 to build an online community devoted to watchdog journalism – a form of activism aimed at holding accountable public personalities and institutions whose functions impact political life.
- A Proven Track Record of Achievement: Some of the honors I have received at the San Jose Mercury News include the 2003 Executive Editor’s Award for teamwork in launching five community news weeklies and the 2005 Executive Editor’s Award for Hurricane Katrina coverage.
